Call for Virtual Presentations -- Chinese-European Research Exchange in Music Psychology, 20-21 October 2017

2017-02-21

The Chinese Society for Music Psychology (CSMP) and the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM) invite contributions to this semi-virtual session within CSMP2017, the 6th Triennial National Conference of the Chinese Society for Music Psychology. The conference will take place at Mianyang Normal University, Si Chuan Province, China, from 19 to 22 October 2017.

This call is addressed to researchers and research students in any subdiscipline of music psychology as it interacts with neighboring areas such as music performance, music education, music therapy, music medicine, psychoacoustics, ethnomusicology, or cognitive neuroscience. The aim of the session is to promote academic collaboration between music psychologists working in China, Europe, and neighboring regions. The session is primarily intended for doctoral students, but all researchers at all levels are welcome.

Researchers living in or near Europe will transmit their presentations in real time to China. These presentations will alternate with presentations from researchers living in or near China, who will transmit from CSMP2017 to participating European locations. European participants will be asked to organize a local live expert audience such as a group of students and researchers. We plan to use WebEx software.

Abstracts will be selected by a committee on the basis of academic quality and theme (interest, relevance, diversity). Spoken presentations will last for 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.

Abstract submissions must be in English and contain less than 2000 characters (including spaces) including authors, affiliations and email addresses (further details below). Chinese participants are asked to provide a Chinese translation of their abstract; the organisers will prepare Chinese translations for accepted English abstracts. Accepted abstracts will be published in a bilingual abstract booklet, available in the internet before the conference as pdf.

The deadline for abstract submission is 15th April 2017. Notifications of acceptance should be sent out by 15th May 2017. Other guidelines and requirements will be included in the acceptance letter. Please send your abstract and any queries to musicpsy@126.com.
